Fully integrated Pharma companies are large commercial enterprises that research and develop, manufacture and market generic or brand name drugs and medicines.

A variety of new technologies are changing the biotech industry, allowing for companies to validate their platforms with respect to conditions that are established mechanisms (such as sickle cell disease) and reach much larger patients. Certain companies are working to create new treatments for diseases that have not been treated, like Duchenne muscle dystrophy.
